The Indiana State Museum
Interpretive Master Plan
1997 Indianapolis, Indiana

This plan was done as part of the planning for the move of the museum to a new building. The architectural programming and exhibition planning were carefully coordinated so that the new building, exhibits, collections, and programs would work together to deliver the Museum's messages and accomplish its goals.

The Museum's 50,000 square feet of exhibits showcase Indiana heritage, natural science, art, culture, and personal achievement. Workshops with Museum staff and community focus group meetings helped chart the course of theinterpretive master plan. The plan calls for visitors to experience the state's treaures-from prehistoric fossils to pop culture icons-in fresh new ways. It illuminates a vision of the Museum as a place of fun, excitement, and discovery about what it means to be a Hoosier.

Andrew Merriell was the Principal in Charge of this institution's thirty-nine million dollar master plan while in the employ of Hilferty & Associates.
