Anderson/Abruzzo Albuquerque Balloon Museum • Arctic Air

The Anderson/ Abruzzo Albuquerque Balloon Museum was created to explore the history, science, and technology of ballooning and lighter-than-air aviation.

Arctic Air tells the story of Swedish explorer S. A. Andrée’s attempt to fly a balloon to the North Pole. The exhibit, opened in 2016 as part of the Museum’s ten year anniversary celebration, explores the technologies developed for the expedition, the flight and eventual crash of the balloon, and the fate of the three member crew.
